Rockets Rally Past Warriors to Force Game 7 in Western Conference Playoffs
In a pivotal Game 6 of their Western
Conference first-round playoff series, the Houston Rockets overcame a late-game
deficit to defeat the Golden State Warriors 115–107, forcing a decisive Game 7.
The victory was propelled by veteran guard Fred VanVleet, who delivered a
standout performance, scoring 29 points and leading the Rockets in the fourth
quarter.
The game was tightly contested, with
the Warriors entering the fourth quarter with an 86–84 lead. However, VanVleet's early four-point play ignited a 12–0 run
that shifted the momentum in favor of Houston. His
leadership and composure were instrumental in the Rockets' late-game surge.
Supporting VanVleet, center Steven
Adams played a crucial role, contributing 17 points and providing a defensive
presence that disrupted the Warriors' offensive flow. His performance was especially notable given his limited minutes
during the regular season.
Alperen Şengün also had a significant impact, recording a
double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds, showcasing his versatility and
ability to contribute on both ends of the court.
Despite the loss, the Warriors received
strong performances from Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler III, who combined for
56 points. However, Golden State struggled in the
fourth quarter, missing 13 consecutive shots, which allowed the Rockets to
capitalize and secure the win.
With the series now tied 3–3, the
Rockets will host Game 7 at home, aiming to advance to the next round. The Warriors, facing elimination, will look to regroup and
deliver a strong performance to continue their postseason run.
