Denver Nuggets Rally to Overtime Victory, Take 2–1 Lead Over Thunder

 




The Denver Nuggets secured a crucial 113–104 overtime victory against the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 3 of their Western Conference Semifinals on May 9, 2025, at Ball Arena. This win gives Denver a 2–1 series lead, showcasing their resilience and depth despite challenges.



Nikola Jokić, despite enduring one of his toughest playoff performances—shooting 8-of-25 from the field and committing eight turnovers—contributed 20 points and 16 rebounds. His leadership and presence were pivotal in the Nuggets' comeback. Jamal Murray led the team with 27 points, while Aaron Gordon added 22 points and Michael Porter Jr. contributed 21 points. Gordon's clutch three-pointer late in regulation was instrumental in sending the game into overtime.



The Thunder were led by Jalen Williams, who scored a career-high 32 points, and Chet Holmgren, who posted a double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds. However, star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander struggled, scoring only 18 points on 7-of-22 shooting and failing to attempt a shot in overtime. He acknowledged his subpar performance, stating, “I died by my decisions,” and expressed a commitment to improve in future games.



The Nuggets capitalized on the Thunder's 1-for-7 shooting and two turnovers in overtime, outscoring Oklahoma City decisively. With Game 4 scheduled for Sunday in Denver, the Nuggets aim to extend their series lead and move closer to advancing to the Western Conference Finals.
